reflection on cultural food 2025

This semester in Food Tech, we focused on cultural festive foods from around the world. Each week we explored different flavours, traditions, and cooking techniques, which helped me understand how food connects to culture and celebration. I really enjoyed learning how different countries use ingredients in unique ways to create dishes that represent their history and traditions.

We finished the term with a cultural food festival, where every group chose a dish to prepare and share. My group made German burgers. The process was fun—we mixed and shaped the patties, prepared the toppings, cooked everything carefully, and made sure our presentation looked great. Seeing the final result (and tasting it!) was definitely one of the highlights of the term.

Overall, this Food Tech semester taught me new skills in the kitchen, gave me confidence working in a group, and helped me appreciate how food brings people together. The festival was a perfect way to end the term, and I’m proud of what our group created.
